Shady!
Shady is my 15.3 hand sorrel quarter horse appendix. He has a star shaped as a house and a white dimple on the right side of his rump.
Here are some video's of shady that i have made.
In the arms of an angel
Run for the roses
Free Willy theme
Don't feel like watching them all? Just watch the last one, it is the newest and the best one out of all three.
Watch as he trots, he tends to prance allot, and he likes to lift his tail like an arabian sometimes. You can see him perking it toward the beginning when i am walking him with a girl on him..at 00:36.
The best shot.
My dad took this picture. I think it looks like it could be professional, and you can see him prancing!
Newest Pictures!
These were taken on march 25th, It has been very warm out for the past week, and the horses are shedding their winter fur.
They love the warmth and are looking great!
They were dewormed a few weeks ago and we are now riding them very often to get some of them back in shape. I have been riding Shady all winter so we are just going to continue riding at on our schedule and the other horses will be being lunged and all of that.
The lady that owns the place that i board at is a great horse trainer, she and her husband have now come public with training horses so on Thursday 4 horses were dropped off at the ranch. Two are very pretty quarter horses, one a chestnut mare and the other a brown stallion, but his mane is very light and it reminds me of a rocky mountain horse.
The other two belong to a lady in BC she has 30 horses. She does not do much with them, she rescues them then brings them home to her ranch and puts them out into a large pasture with several other horses where they live as wild horses, and she never goes out to look after them.
The two she had shipped here are two shires, they are brothers. They were only near people a few times so they are pretty much wild. When the owner of the ranch i board at had to bring them out from the trailer and into the corral the oldest one was rearing and charging at her, and it took her at least an hour just to get the stallion from the end of her driveway to the corral. The other one would barley move and it took him a while to get to the corral as well.
The youngest is a year and a half black shire with neat white markings on his body, kind of like brindle marking. His hooves are not well kept and has a crack all the way to the top because the lady never touched the horses. He has a bald face and one blue eye, he looks very mean and he stands at 17 hands
The other is a reddish roan with a flaxen mane and tail, he stands at 17.3 hands he is also a shire and has a stripe. His hooves look allot better and he is far more wild than the black one.
Today Vicky(that is the owner of the ranch i board Shady at(the horse trainer)) and her husband Ryan were training them again in the corral, they were trying to act as lead mares and make them run to show them who the boss was...so Eventually the meanest one(roanish) stopped running and Vicky was able to get a halter on him, the other one knocked Ryan over twice into a big pool of water and kicked Ryan's leg. So they chased him to a different corral so that the roanish one could calm down and they worked with him there.
Maybe two hours of chasing him around it and cracking the whip they got a halter on him and were soon able to force him into a stall for the night. The other one(roanish) now walks on a lead rope but still gets jumpy.
Vicky is going to break in all four of the horses she had gotten, the Shires were not supposed to be shipped here this early but the owner did it anyway so now Vicky is stuck with them.
But it will take a good year or two to break all four.
But i am exited to see the quarter horses under the saddle, they look like great barrel racer and reiners. And they also have to break in their two percheron foals this year..so 6 horses in one year, and they are expecting more. This week i am going down and helping out.
Vicky and Ryan are building at least 6 more paddocks and a indoor riding arena, so they will be very busy!
Anyway, back to the pictures...These were taken today, i should have gotten some of the new horses, but oh well. I am so exited for him to loose his winter coat! He has the spring fever right now.
In the Free Willy Theme video the clips of Shady eating the grass was also from today, he was so happy to actually be eating grass again, and it was beside the pretty oak tree!
But the rest, like with the grass and all that was from last summer, toward the end we and two other people and their horses are riding on the road was from a few weeks ago.
The Future!!
I am going to be moving out to the country this summer, well right now we are looking for a house to move into, we are going to bring Shady home with us around the same time we move in and we are going to be getting another horse. We are also thinking of getting a foal for us to raise, because i have always wanted a foal to raise and then when it grows up it could be very attached to us and like a best friend.
I am going to be showing with the new horse, because Shady is to old to show with, but that is to bad because he is super athletic and very fast. He acts like a colt, but all i need a broken leg right? I think i am going to get him some ankle supports.
I am going to be showing in Western pleasure, barrel racing, and reining. I really really want to do allot more english, i ride english sometimes but not as much as i would like.
But sadly i never really get the chance to ride english to often, but as long as i ride, i am good to go =D
This summer i am going to be going to a big horse ranch called Trailhead Ranch I am not to sure how long i will be there for, probably about two months but i will be working out there, i will need to be mucking stalls, training horses, breaking horses, exercising horses, going on over night camping rides, cattle driving, and all of that, i will also have to the all the background work such as picking up rocks that may injure horses on the roads or trails..and so on..
So when i go to help Vicky and Ryan out with training these horses it will help me out for this place.
I have trained young horses before, and i love to do it. I find it very interesting to have two living things both learning at the same time and still have fun.
At Trailhead Ranch i will be riding a horse named Rebel a half arabian who is pitch black with not a spot of black or brown on him, the lady i talked to said he was one of the most beautiful horses there, i will get pictures!!
But while i am out there my mom and dad will be going to see Shady and i won't be able to go, i will miss my baby, but i need to experience life without him and another horse for a bit anyway.
